The Vancouver Town Planning Commission was founded in 1926 and played a key role in planning the City of Vancouver until the Planning Department was created, in 1951.
In the 1960s the Commission was chaired by SCARP’s founding director Peter Oberlander, who resigned from the post in protest against the development of a freeway in downtown Vancouver.
