About

The history project was proposed by Maíra Avila, now a former SCARPie, with the support of Tony Dorcey and Jonathan Frantz (through a directed studies that later turned into an internship with the School). Three SCARP students – Benita Menezes, Jose Fernandez and Rohit Mujumdar – became involved in the implementation of the pilot phase of the project.

We have formed the SCARP Institutional Memory Group – and our job is now to find support to keep the project going.

SCARP is changing

SCARP is celebrating its 60th anniversary at a time when a major re-visioning and strategic planning process are under way. Issues such as faculty renewal, curriculum review, budget, alumni engagement, research organization and the construction of a new Integrated Planning and Design Facility are some of the changes being considered. This seems to be a favorable time to also look back at the school’s past, reflect on it, and make sure that perceptions of what things looked like in former times are registered before they become faded over time. It is important to document this body of formal and informal knowledge, experiences, events and practices related to SCARP as there is a risk of losing valuable narratives and stories as time goes by.
